My Story

She/Her

Exercise and sports have always played a huge role in my life. When I was little I was my parents signed me up for any sport that could contain my energy, I started with dancing then Tae Kwon Do and somehow ended up doing discus and shot-put throwing. I was first introduced to weight lifting my sophomore year of high school when I signed up for a strength and conditioning class, it was high energy and super competitive. I loved it! Lifting made me feel confident in a way that I had not felt with dancing. My strength and conditioning coach recommended I go out and compete in Track, and that was where I found my passion for exercising and throwing. My track coach went above and beyond teaching us to care for our whole bodies, not just physically. He said that whatever is done in the weight room is a reflection of what is happening outside whether it be sleep, nutrition, or mental health, it would all impact our performance. That was what interested me in studying Kinesiology. My goal is to be the person my high school track coach was to me, someone who can empower others. It was not until later that I was introduced to pre and post natal health by a client who had just had her baby two months prior to meeting her. She taught me how she felt her body changed and continued to change after the birth. It sparked my interest in learning more about the changes in the body pre, during and post pregnancy, as well as how I could help these individuals continue to be active during their term. I want to provide a space for women where they feel safe, strong, and empowered.

My Philosophy

Keep stretching and challenging yourself. As a woman in a male dominated field I found it easy to stay in a state of comfort where I was doing what was familiar and not challenging myself to do things I might fail at, in fear of making myself look ignorant. Quickly I found that if I want to be better in my profession or in my own training I need to not be afraid of looking ignorant. This change in mindset allowed me to see that where I once found myself being insecure was now where I could improve. As a coach this is something I try to implement and push the limits we tend to set on ourselves.
